Events — Cwmbran Centre Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week
13/05/2019 until 19/05/2019
Mental Health Awareness week is happening 13th-19th May 2019 this year, with a focus on body image and the impact that this can have on peoples’ mental health. At Cwmbran Centre we are supporting this event and putting on a range of activities to highlight that it is #OK2BUCwmbran.
Although the event doesn’t officially start until 13th May, the Cwmbran Centre team are starting their activities a day early with a sponsored walk up the Sugar Loaf Mountain in aid of the Mental Health Foundation. If you would like to donate then please do here.
The activities don’t stop there – there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved in, take a look:
The team at Cwmbran Centre will be joining together to host a team wellbeing breakfast for centre staff, why not try organising an event like this in your work place?
Tuesday 14th May – Awareness Stands
Local services will be joining us on Gwent Square between 11am – 3pm to promote helpful services that are available to people in Torfaen.
- Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind, Hafal, Gwent Regional Partnership and Dewis organisations will all be on-site. All of these organisations are here to help and will be promoting services on offer.

Thursday 16th May – Cwmbran Library Knit and Natter
Did you know the Cwmbran Library holds a knit and natter group that takes place every fortnight from 2pm until 4pm? We will be promoting information about the group on Thursday. Anyone is welcome to attend, work on their own projects, share ideas and have a chat in a relaxed environment.
Saturday 18th May 11am – 4pm – #OK2BUCwmbran
A fabulous photobooth will be onsite and we encourage YOU to have a snap. We encourage people of all ages to enter the booth with friends and family to take an unfiltered photo. 2 copies of your photo will be printed instantly and we would LOVE you to add one to our photoboard – our aim is for the board to be filled with snaps of people from Cwmbran that are just happy to be themselves!
If you can’t get to the centre on the 18th then share your unfiltered pics on social media using our hashtag #OK2BUCwmbran! Let’s get everyone involved and show younger generations that is really is OK to just be yourself.
Sunday 19th May – Self-care Sunday
The Body Shop are inviting members of the public to take some time for themselves and indulge instore in some self-care. Visit them for product information.
We hope the activities will benefit in some way and look forward to seeing you here at Cwmbran Centre.
