News — Cwmbran Centre welcomes more new tenants

Popular shopping destination Cwmbran Centre has welcomed two new tenants, bringing the number of new brands opening there to 17 since the start of the year.

Citrus Ladieswear, a new fashion store, has completed a five-year lease at 9 Monmouth Walk, while the Calendar Club will open at the end of the month at 10 South Walk.

In addition, Chopstix, which agreed a 10-year lease, has already opened at 17 North Walk, to huge excitement from local shoppers, with long queues forming on its first operating day.

Rob Burns, marketing director for Chopstix, said: “We’re really excited that we’re coming to Cwmbran. It’s a great town and we’re really looking forward to the chance to bring our brand to the masses.”

Alex Williams, asset manager at LCP, which owns and manages Cwmbran Shopping Centre, said: “These have been a busy few weeks as we’ve signed deals with several high street names and independent businesses that want to have a presence at the centre. We’ve been working hard to attract new business and the further commitment of these new businesses to opening in the town demonstrates its continued appeal.”

Martyn Haftowski, centre manager, added: “These are very exciting times in Cwmbran as we continue to introduce a wide range of new tenants to the centre.”

Last week, Cwmbran Centre announced Burger King is to open at 23 North Walk next month, creating about 30 jobs.

Cwmbran Centre, which has about 18 million visitors a year, has 180 retail units over 740,000 sq ft and is anchored by Asda and Primark. Other leading brands include JD Sports, River Island, Superdrug, New Look and Deichmann. It also has 3,000 free car parking spaces and a dedicated bus station.

Letting agents EJ Hales and KLM helped to complete the deals on behalf of LCP.
