News — Cwmbran Centre wins International Silver CSR Excellence Award

 

We are extremely proud to announce that we have won an International Silver CSR Excellence Award in the national campaign to find the best companies, councils and communities.

We competed against more than 500 other nominations in the CSR Awards for 2021, and were presented with our trophy and certificate at a glittering presentation ceremony at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel, London on September 27th, 2021.

The judges commented: “With an aim to embed sustainable activity into everything, they understand that sustainability does not just involve minimising consumption of utilities and raw materials – but also to engender sustainability within working partnerships.

“They have not just implemented best practice within the Centre but have engaged with the wider community through education, information and demonstration.

“They are now Zero to Landfill and over 64% of waste is segregated on site. Electricity, Water and Gas have seen huge reductions of 44% through various projects, including LED lighting, educating staff and tenants in reducing usage, and hosting fund-raising events with schools and the community.”

As a result of this International CSR Excellence Award success, we have been invited to have our winning paper published in The Global Guide to CSR Excellence (the leading international work of reference on corporate social responsibility best practice) so that others around the world can follow our lead and learn from our achievement.
