Cwmbran Christmas Community
If you’re like us then you have only just got over the madness of the festive season. The start to the new year has given us time to reflect on some of the things we worked on towards the end of 2018 and we think they are worth shouting about! Our teams work tirelessly to not only keep the centre running, but also go above and beyond to give back to the community. Here are some of the things we achieved in December:
St Dials Christmas Party
We teamed up with the St Dials Community Action Group again in 2018. They operate in the local community to improve the environmental sustainability of the area and hold local events. Cwmbran Centre donated 72 selection boxes to local families that attended the Christmas Party.
Age Connects Torfean Christmas Meal
With the help from Age Connects Torfean we invited 30 local, vulnerable and isolated older people in our community to join us for a festive lunch. The 2 course meal was accompanied by music from the lead singer of Only Boys Allowed and each guest was gifted a card and box of biscuits from Cwmbran Centre. Larger gifts were also up for grabs at the free raffle, which was hosted by some of the Cwmbran Centre staff. This was a wonderful event enjoyed by all that attended. To top off the success, Cwmbran Centre also donated £600 to the charity.
Christmas Jumper Day
The Cwmbran Centre Team participated in Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children. A total of £35.91 was raised for charity.
Christmas Light Switch On Donation
Our Christmas Light Switch On ran for another successful year in 2018. As some of you will be aware we had a special guest turning on the Cwmbran Centre lights, former Welsh footballer Daniel Gabbidon. The star is known for being an ambassador for Cancer Research Wales, in light of this, Cwmbran Centre donated £500 towards the charity.
