News — We’re Green Apple Winners!
Cwmbran Centre has won an International Green Apple Environment Award in the campaign to find the greenest companies.
Our Environmental Best Practice Award was achieved from our Energy Management Plan which captured environmental and sustainable best practice throughout the Centre, reducing energy usage and carbon footprint.
Operations Manager, Martyn Haftowski, said, “Our aim is to embed sustainable activity into everything we do. Sustainability does not just involve minimising consumption of utilities or raw materials but how we engender sustainability within working partnerships. We have achieved this by engaging with the wider community by education, informing and demonstrating.”
We are also proud to be Zero to Landfill.
As a result of this International Green Apple Award success, we have been invited to accept Green World Ambassador status and have our winning paper published in The Green Book (the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice) so that others around the world can follow our lead and learn from their achievement.
This will also entitle us to represent our country in the Green World Environment Awards that are held in a different country every year.
The Green Apple Awards are run by The Green Organisation – an international, independent, non-profit, non-political environment group that began in 1994 to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.
