Last day of summer fun at Cwmbran Centre

News — Last day of summer fun at Cwmbran Centre

Cwmbran Centre is hosting the final day of its summer fun bonanza tomorrow (Saturday, September 3) with a charity event – and back to school trail.

After a bumper six weeks of events, Give Back to Go Back will see Cancer Research UK setting up a stall to raise funds, while Gwent and Powys Army Cadets will be attending to raise money for a trip to South Africa.

Three of the cadets are travelling over in August 2023 to take part in a memorial service for The Battle of Rorke’s Drift and while in the country will commemorate Cwmbran hero John Fielding, who fought in the war in the 2nd Battalion, 24th Regiment of Foot and was awarded the Victoria Cross.

Children are also invited to take part in a digital trail around the centre, where they can win up to £100 worth of prizes from Smiggle, Clarks and Pretty Miss, plus have the chance to get free goodies, such as pencils and pens, when they complete the trail.

On the day, face painting will be available, as well as balloon modelling and £1 rides on the Dewi train.

Martyn Haftowski, Cwmbran Centre manager, said the Saturday fun is the culmination of six weeks of events, which have seen families enjoy circus acts, arts and crafts, plus animal magic, and a surf simulator.

“It’s been great to see so many families enjoying themselves at Cwmbran Centre over the summer,” he said. “The atmosphere has been electric as children have enjoyed a series of free events with their families and we’re looking forward to wrapping it up tomorrow with the prize trail and the charity fundraisers. We hope to see as many people as possible taking part.”

All events take place between noon and 4pm.
