Supporting the local community

News — Supporting the local community

Throughout this year we’ve once again continued our commitment to supporting the local community and have worked with a number of organisations including Nant Celyn Primary School and Greenmeadow Farm.

We’ve been working with Torfaen Young People’s Support Service (TYPSS) to support young people across the county. Through multiple donations amounting to £1000, we have helped the organisation to continue offering vital support to young people who need it.

We’ve also been working with St Dials Community Action Group, which operates in the local community to improve the environmental sustainability of the area. The group also holds events for the local community.

At this year’s St Dials Community Action Group Christmas Party, we donated 175 selection boxes to local families who attended and we were also on hand at the event to make sure everyone had a fantastic time.

We’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the team at Cwmbran Centre.

Information on the TYPSS Santa Appeal

The TYPSS Santa Appeal is now in its 11th year and has a huge impact of the young people the organisation engages with. Lines opened on 30th October, and members of the public are welcomed to call for information about a young person to buy a gift for. They are able to choose an age between new-born and 21 years.  For the 16-21 year olds we also share ideas as we know people struggle with what to buy an older person.  The amount to spend is totally down to the individual, and the organisation is grateful for all donations.

After the success of last year, this year we are welcoming donations of perishable items to make up hampers for young people aged 16-21. These people will be alone for Christmas and won’t have a Christmas dinner like most others, so these hampers go a long way to improving lives over the festive period.
