Fashion — Top Tips for Essential Holiday Packing

The holiday season is in full swing…

Which is great, but also brings up the dilemma of what to pack? Which shoes? How many pairs of socks? To fold or to roll? Perhaps you’re a pro at neatly-packed, capsule-style packing, but if you are anything like us, you will need to write a steadfast list to ensure that you are not tearing your hair out the night before the early morning flight.

So here’s some help from us to give your ‘what to pack‘ list a nudge in the right direction.

New-Season Sunglasses

Unlike the scratched old pair that we keep in the car for emergency usage, your holiday sunglasses should reflect your latest summer style. You are likely to be wearing them on your face for 90% of the day, (we are assuming that your holiday will be non-stop sunshine by the way) so make sure your pair shouts ‘summer 2019 here I am!’

Swimwear

Much like those unloved sunglasses, more often than not, we pull out last years’ swimwear with little thought to how mis-shapen it’s gotten or whether it even still fits before shoving it in to our suitcase. Take some time to consider the latest looks and what style of costume will make you feel at your most fabulous.

Shorts

Of course it would be very un-British of us to not pack at least one pair of jeans, but the optimist in us say, the more shorts the better. When it’s hot, and liberal suncream applications are needed regularly, make sure you have some stylish shorts to keep you looking fresh.

Light Footwear

Packing footwear is the worst! Flip flops, sandles, heels, trainers — do you pack them all?! Having some shoes that are dual-purpose or light to carry is the way forward when it comes to savvy packing and staying within your weight allowance.

Something Smart

Whatever activities you have planned for your trip, it is guaranteed that after several consecutive days of being coated in sand and suncream, you will want to slip into something a little more refined for an evening of decadence. Don’t forget to roll before packing to minimise creasing!

A Good Book

Escapism is key to really switching off and adjusting into the true holiday spirit. A good book is a must-have for drifting off into an alternative reality and resetting those brainwaves. Thriller, romance, true crime or period drama, our book retailers here at Cwmbran offer styles to suit every taste, but here are some examples of what we’d like to get stuck into this summer.
