News — Toys “R” Us opens in WH Smith’s in Cwmbran Centre
Toys “R” Us has opened at Cwmbran Centre today as the popular toy retailer returns to the high street.
Alex Williams, of LCP, said: “We’re thrilled Toys “R” Us and WH Smith identified Cwmbran Centre as one of its nine relaunch locations. It adds yet another great brand to the leading high street names and great independents we have at the centre and we’re looking forward to welcoming it to Cwmbran.”
The concession is planning a grand opening on Saturday, July 8, when Geoffrey the Giraffe will be in store in and the first 30 customers visiting with their children will receive a free Toys “R” Us goody bag worth over £20.
Toys “R” Us is planning to open in nine WH Smith stores across the country.
It’s another well-known brand to head to Cwmbran Centre, with 22 new stores – both high street names and independent stores – opening in the past 12 months. This includes Loungers, which took over a former unit that had lain empty for more than ten years.
Since taking ownership, the centre has 95% occupancy, its highest rate in the past five years. In 2022, it recorded 19.75 million people– an 8% increase (1.5 million) on the previous year.
LCP has continued its commitment to investing in Cwmbran, with the acquisition of the neighbouring prime leisure complex, Leisure@Cwmbran.
The dominant leisure facility in the South Wales town, it has an eight-screen Vue cinema, 20-lane Hollywood Bowl plus six restaurant units, including a Harvester, German Doner Kebab and Pepe’s Peri Peri. A tanning salon, gym and an independent college are also on the site.
